He lived in Austin all his life and retired as a Battalion Chief for the City of Austin Fire Dept. after 32 years of service. He was also a founding member of Living Faith Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ben Perkins.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Perkins; daughter, Carrielu Dickerson; brothers, Jimmy Perkins, Cecil Perkins, and Edgar Perkins; grandchildren, Jason & Collin Dickerson and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, TX.
Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010 at Bee Cave Baptist Church, 13222 Hwy 71 West, Austin, TX. Burial will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
